Ragdolls have a very gentle fur, which doesn`t full and therefore it doesn`t need any demanding care. It is enough to brush it once a week and to comb out free hairs. Much brushing could damage ragdoll`s fur. But brushing is important because you put out necrotic hairs and the cat won`t swallow too much of them if it licks its fur. 

Bath
You can bathe your cat five or seven days before a show. My ragdolls tolerate this procedure well. They trust me. For ragdolls baths you should use only a special champoo for cats, not the schampoo for humans, not for children. You have to hold the wet cat in warm room and dry it by a hairdryer or let it dry naturally. The ragdoll`s fur gets dry within about four hours. The fur could be adjusted by powder, which puts in the fur and after some minutes you carefully brush it out. The fur gets clear of grease and dirt.

Apart from the fur, ragdolls need have cleaned their ears. It isn`t a big problem. You should do it with a cotton wool spill. Sometimes your ragdoll needs to have eyes cleaned. The best way to do it is with a damp tampon. If a cat has a scratching post, its claws will separate naturally in the layers. It is a good idea to check its claws once a week. From time to time (once in two or three weeks) it is appropriate to cut them. 


Cutting claws is very easy. You put your cat on your lap, you take cat`s paws in your hand and press his or her toe a little. The claw will pop out for trimming. You can use special pincers for nails. You have to be careful. If you cut too deep, you will cause painful bleeding. The tip: If your cat doesn`t like cutting claws or brushing fur you try to do it when the cat has just woken up. If he or she is sleepy, you will do it easier.


Cats without claws….?
In some countries some `cat lovers` pay their cat a special surgery operation - declawing. It is an abrogation of cat`s claw including last phalanges. People do this horrible thing to protect their luxury furniture and carpets. It is a very painful operation, which makes the cat disabled forever and change the whole cat`s life a horrible torture during walking. In our country this horribleness is banned. Any kitten from our cattery must never be declawed.


And how to solve cat`s scratching
You need a scratching post for your kitten. The best is a high pole with some little ‘house’ or landing. Cats love to lounge in the height and scratching a tree is a good exercise for them. If cats start to scratch on a place in your flat you should put them on the scratching post and press their front legs gently. He or she starts to scratch on the pole. Cats comprehend very and will scratch on their scratching post only. Cats are very intelligent and their training is easy.


When I was trzing to put together all the factsI would like to put on my website, I can`t forget to write a bit more about declawing. Recently one my acquaintances asked me recently what a breed of a cat without claws was like. I was shocked that somebody can even think of such a horrible thing in our country. She supposed that there exist a cat breed, which is a special toped cat without claws, not a cat with its claws cut. When I saw some photos of declawing, I was shocked by that cruel and macabre thing. Only the memory ofthese photos make me goose flash.


There is actually one problem connected to scratchy furniture. 


It is a leather sofa. My cats never scratch here, but they go, run and jump on it and it marked by their claws. Other furniture made of wood, carpets and wooden floors are without problems. I love my cats more than my furniture and I don`t mind little damages on my leather sofa. The sofa is almost twenty years old and it was gnawed also from our little rabbit. 



Feeding 
All cats are a little dainty and they like a various diet. Plenty of breeders recommend only dry food. I think that we should do our cats a little cosset and get them the most diversiform food although dry food is declared complete. My ragdolls get canned food in the morning, during a day they have dry food and in the evening get beef meat, chicken, cod etc. This meat has to be frozen first, but before feeding warmed at room temperature without any crystals of ice. Ice is dangerous for cat`s stomach. A cat never gets raw pork, because it can be contamined by Auyezsky disease, it is fatal for all the cats.



Cats should sometimes get some bone bouches, e.g. a piece of cheese, yoghurt or cream crame or something of the sort. People`s food isn`t appropriate for cats because it contains salt and spices. Cats can sometimes get some vitamins or minerals, e.g. Calo Pet.


Cats have to have an access to fresh water all day. I change it twice a day. The cow`s milk isn`t good for cats for its structure. If you want to give milk to your cat, you should use special cat`s milk, which can buy in pet shops.



Indoor cats need some grass in a pot for good digestion. I crop corn or grass for my cats and my beloved cats eat it every day. Young brairds are source of vitamins and help cats` digestion. All cats vomit sometimes. It`s a common physiology effect, when cats put out swallowed hairs. Just grass helps cats to vomit and protects against an ileus.


Cat`s entertainment and toys 
The Ragdolls are social cats, which love playing and snogging. If you aren`t at home often, your cat will sleep almost all the time when you are out. When you come back home, your cat will identify you and will acclaim you at the door. My cats recognise the members of my family without error and for another tenants they pass. If you spend too much time out, it will be better to buy two cats. They will play whit each other and they won`t mind your absence at home.

It is necessary to play with your catas much as possible. They love balls, mice, plumlets, etc. on a string. Too big toys aren`t interesting for cats, because they don`t bowl them. Cats love toys, which ring and rattle. Choice of toys is very important because some toys can be dangerous.


The classical example is a small ball with rubber spinules. My cats love it very much, but, on the other hand, my vet told me that he had taken too many of them out of cats` intestines. 


Some toys, which are hanging on a stretch string, could be dangerous especially for small kittens. Such toys have to be used only under supervision.


Plastic sacks and bags are dangerous, too, because cats can smother in them.


Plants in your flat can be poisonous for cats. If cats have access to their grass they won`t be interested about in other plants. Some cacti are dangerous for cats, especially those with strong and long spines.


The most important toy for a cat is the scratching post. If you want to wish your cat a little climb and healthy excercise appoint a big and high scratching post. Cats love to observe the world from above. Cats have the scratching post and don`t scratch your furniture. The scratching poles are available in a pet shop, or you can order them at the producer. Some skilful breeders can make it themselves.
